June 24/18

Some stitching has happened in this house! I made a point of staying off of social media today and worked away at things that I love like walking, reading and stitching. Maggie and I walked on a new to us trail this morning, I finished reading "The White Queen" for my book club and started "The Battle Within" which I am reading for myself and I worked on the two ornaments on the left. The ornaments are from a kit called "Home for Christmas" from Design Works Crafts. The fella' was busy catching up on his TV shows after we took the puppy to obedience class this morning so I puttered away. My step counter tells me that I am almost at 13 000 steps for the day, Maggie stinks like the ditch water she ran through and we are all off to bed at a decent hour. The best kind of Sunday!

June 23/18

There was a bath bomb making fail last weekend. My sister-in-law graduated from a course last week so I thought that it would be nice to make some bath bombs for her as a gift. I made the batch in the muffin tin and let them sit in the mold a little too long. I tried tapping on the tin, running a knife around the edge, twisting them and finally, cutting into one. They had become like cement. The fella' is now using them in the bath, dipping them into his bathwater two at a time.

I made a second batch which is on the left. They are not the traditional bath bomb shape because I used my small lunch containers to form them. They are lemon and vanilla so they smell so very yummy! I am taking a soap making class next week which I am very excited about. I know that I could just watch some videos online and make soap that way, but I am keen to learn in person from someone.

Stitching is limping along. Life has just been weird and stressful as of late. I look forward to being stressed out in the usual ways when the Universe decides that I have gone through my share of weirdness. Hope all is well with you!

June 13/18

So, there has not been much stitching taking place around here because life has kind of taken over. My hometown and much of the surrounding area in New Brunswick just went through a record spring flooding where so many roads were closed that school was cancelled for three days in my town because the detours alone were 1-2 hours. Then, between various family and work issues, I found myself battling anxiety while almost doubling my usual work hours per week. The fella' went away for 4 days to see his daughter graduate from university so I found myself eating supper late at night after feeding, watering and walking the critters.

I have done some stitching and I will eventually find the energy to take a photo or two. I did buy myself this little beauty:

which has come in handy to keep the fella' happy with a constant supply of chocolate chip and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

I also had to replace my favourite sneakers because our puppy decided that they should be slip ons:

Also, as part of a lifelong battle with depression and anxiety, I have recently been working on my friendships by dropping a line or two to a friend every day. As a result, I met one friend's three new kittens and I had a leisurely lunch with another friend yesterday in Halifax. Feeling more connected to people helped me nip the most recent bout in the bud.

Anyhow, that's what is up with me. What's up with you?
